    Having Mickie Most as producer could be a double-edged sword. On The Hurdy Gurdy Man, his over-ambitious nature and scattershot production sense occasionally sabotaged Donovan's songs rather than emphasizing their strengths. (The credits shamelessly list "Produced by Mickie Most" and "A Mickie Most Production," right next to each other.) As with the last few LPs, the program began with the hit Brand: Sundazed Music Inc.

    referencing Hurdy Gurdy Man, 7", Unofficial, 7N not a re-issue. it is a advance promo copy. this song was never re-issued for either promo or general release (both with same matrix number 7N ) as far as i can tell after research (no other site lists any evidence at all of a UK reissue).

    The psychedelic 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' and the sunshine pop of 'Jennifer Juniper', both became hit singles. The rest of this lp is contemporary folk and singer/songwriter material at its best.

    This ultra rare 7" vinyl was the second single from British rock band, The Spectres (later to be known as Status Quo).The band's first attempt at a self-penned single (not to be confused with the Donovan song with the same title). "Hurdy Gurdy Man" is often incorrectly shown in Quo discographies as written by just Alan Lancaster.

When I went to digitalize all the old vinyl, I realized I had to get this on CD. Besides the killer hits "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and "Jennifer Juniper", you have the infectious "Sun is a Very Magic Fellow."/5(94).
